a living, breathing studio

Today marks a turning point in my creative journey here in Perugia. I’ve been tending to the ecosystem that is my ceramic studio/growing space that I have been so lucky to find in Perugia’s historical city center. I am surrounded by nature, yet nestled right into the heart of the city, it really is quite a scenario. After a few months of tending to it privately, I am now slowly inviting the outside world to participate in the studio ecology.

I am expressing this invitation quite literally, through the clay commons / terre aperte. While I am also inviting my fellow humans, the members of my community, to engage with my work - the outputs of the studio - through the slow goods subscription / abbonamento.

Clay commons / terre aperte

I am inviting artists of any and all skill level to my ceramic atelier/garden to work independently with clay. These free-style handbuilding sessions will happen in two sessions (morning/afternoon) every saturday (well, most). Participants are invited to a self-guided ceramic practice with the option to fire work in studio. Whether you are just starting out with your clay practice or you have years of experience, you are welcome to join. The sessions are offered with the intention of creating new opportunities for connection and community, as well as an opportunity for those who wish to dedicate themselves to a weekly creative practice.

The slow goods subscription / abbonamento

In addition to inviting others physically into my studio to create, I am also extending the invitation to engage with the outputs of my labour. The slow goods subscription is a seasonal harvest of the studio/garden’s efforts. Every time the season turns, a new parcel will be ready for members of the ledger to pick-up at the studio in Perugia. Each season members receive a small plant from my regenerative nursery, a handmade piece of ceramic, a type-written poem/musing/seasonal reflection, and a surprise seasonal product of my regenerative garden.
