bagels+ sabato+ sun @ the studio

This past saturday (April 11) we gathered at my ceramic studio for a lovely day of bagels, natural wines, a small ceramic sample sale, and a lot of good vibes as the sun shown down on the roof terrace.

Laboratorio aperto

As part of a wider initiative that included most of the resident ceramicists of Perugia, I opened up my private studio to the public for the day. As I was planning what to do during my “laboratorio aperto” an idea struck, what if I got my parter and sisters involved for even more fun. Why not use this city-wide event as an excuse to have ourselves a little party? So that we did.

With my sister being a baker and my partner owning a natural wine shop, it was easy for us to dream up this saturday brunch party - and as an homage to our hometown, we decided to make New Jersey style bagel sandwiches! My sister worked her magic and pulled off the tastiest bagels, they tasted just like home, but somehow even better (must have been the italian ingredients/sourdough starter).

A gathering of friends, old and new

We had a lovely mix of old and new acquaintances come out to spend this lovely saturday morning with us. Everyone bringing their own bit of sunshine along with them. The bagels were loved by many and the sun warmed us all up on the roof terrace. Some even walked away with a nice rosy suntan. The wisteria flowers that envelop my studio space were just budding, on the verge of bloom. Whilst the cherry blossom in the garden above the studio provided us with a lovely snow-fall of white flower petals.

Coming soon

We also took the opportunity to share with everyone the new projects we have brewing. My sister and partner will be opening a micro-bakery in the natural wine shop we opened in Perugia- amphora. Meanwhile, my other sister and I will be opening a shop in Ponte D’Oddi that sells artisanal handycraft called Marfa. Just like the nature that surrounds us, we too are working hard in these early days of spring, for our labors to bloom later this season. So watch this space, and follow along for more updates. Thanks so much to everyone who came out on saturday, we have so much love and gratitude for you!

Special thanks to Marco Portolano for the lovely photos he took on Saturday!
